Attendance Policy Template for UAE Companies

Key clauses every UAE employer attendance policy should include β€” based on UAE Labour Law requirements.

1. Working Hours

Standard working hours are 8 hours per day / 48 hours per week. During the Holy Month of Ramadan, working hours are reduced to 6 hours per day for all employees, as required by UAE Labour Law.

2. Attendance Recording

All employees must record their attendance by checking in and out via the company's biometric attendance system (or mobile GPS app for field staff) at the start and end of each working day. Manual timesheets are not accepted.

3. Late Arrival

Employees arriving more than 15 minutes after their scheduled start time without prior approval are considered late. Repeated lateness (3 or more instances per month) may result in a formal warning. Salary deductions for late arrival will be calculated at 1/240th of the monthly salary per hour of lateness.

4. Overtime

Overtime must be pre-approved by the department manager. Approved overtime is compensated at 125% of the hourly rate for regular extra hours, and 150% for work between 9 PM and 4 AM or on rest days β€” in accordance with UAE Labour Law.

5. Leave Entitlement

Employees are entitled to 30 calendar days of paid annual leave per year after completing one year of service, in accordance with UAE Labour Law Article 29. Leave requests must be submitted via the self-service portal a minimum of 5 working days in advance.

6. Absence Without Notice

Unauthorised absence must be reported to HR within 24 hours. Absence without notice for more than 20 days in one year, or 7 consecutive days, may be treated as resignation under UAE Labour Law Article 44.

This is a template only. Consult a UAE labour law specialist before implementing as official policy. AITIME can enforce these rules automatically β€” book a demo to see how.
